About me
I started out in business services as my first job post university as a graduate accountant. I spent 2.5 years in a small public practice learning company, trust and individual tax. I struggled to find a passion for tax, but before I transitioned out of this expertise, I tried a mid tier firm. I spent the the next 8 months in this role, however after this period of time I knew it was time to move on from tax.

I wanted to try something completely different, so I moved to an american listed company that had specialised services in oil and gas. I started out as a management accountant and through the years I progressed to a senior accountant. I spent three years at this company learning the fundamentals of accounting for a business, which included: bank reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, CAPEX and government submissions. This company divested out of Australia and I was asked to be the finance lead for the voluntary administration (VA). This was a massive opportunity for me and was an incredible experience. I spent the next 12 months being the sole employee in Australia and I successfully completed the VA.

Manufacturing was the next industry I moved into and the role was a plant controller. This role unfortunately was not for me, the culture of the organisation and the leadership group made this experience incredibly tough and undesirable. I worked in this role for 6 months.
I was fortunate to get a contract role at one of the largest travel groups in the world. I started out as a management accountant and was made permanent in the first 8 months. My next role was a move into a Bi team where I started to learn a totally new skillset and I had finally found my passion. I spent the next 12 months working extremely hard to up-skill myself with great people around me. I was fortunate enough to become a leader of this team. After 18 months in this team I decided to move to the largest business pillar as a senior analyst. 12 months later I transitioned into the finance reporting lead of this pillar. I moved out of Finance into Technology as a Data Engineering Leader and spent the next 18 months setting up a modern business analytics platform. This included a data warehouse through Synapse and Power Bi. I had an awesome time working with the team and Microsoft. I was just recently promoted as Principal Engineer in Data for Corporate Australia and New Zealand and I am looking forward to it!
